For the employees of BVG, balancing work with family, establishing more flexible working methods and simplifying routine tasks are among the most important aspects of a modern, digital corporate strategy. With the support of Assecor, the first important steps were taken towards digitizing internal processes: the pilot phase for the digital workplace with Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 365 was successfully completed.
As part of its digital reorientation, the BVG wants to use the potential of digitization and present itself as an attractive employer both externally and internally. An emphatically sustainable workplace, including the provision of essential tools, is an important first step in this regard. Employees should be able to work flexibly, regardless of location and across locations, while continuing to ensure team work and the necessary communication. Space scarcity, batch processing and routine tasks should be minimized with the help of new technologies and relieve employees in the long term.
With the support of Assecor, the infrastructure was adapted to the requirements as a first step. This was followed by a pilot phase with Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 365, which was successfully completed. The change processes initiated are important milestones on the way to the new working world of tomorrow.
The technical and infrastructural conditions for a modern digital workplace should be created for 6,000 BVG employees. Prototypically, these requirements should first be evaluated and tested in order to be able to determine the specific requirements of employees. In the future, every BVG employee should be able to use any modern Windows 10 device with their BVG user ID and an automated provisioning process. All transmission paths required for network communication are preconfigured and allow users to securely access BVG networks.
Assecor supported the BVG in adapting the IT infrastructure to the requirements and needs of a digital workplace and establishing suitable administrative processes. The entire Microsoft product range was used, including in particular Windows 10, Office 365 services and identity management products. In parallel with the collection and evaluation of usage requirements and infrastructural adjustments, Assecor supported the BVG in creating an accompanying communication and training concept. The long-term (eight-year) cooperation between Assecor and the BVG always guaranteed a high level of trust and appropriate experience.
The practicality of the digital workplace was tested by users and pilot participants from various specialist areas. Test cases were used to evaluate the communication and training concept as well as user acceptance of the new cloud services. Based on the evaluated test cases, this enabled the project team to implement the application-related requirements in accordance with the relevant IT guidelines.
